When Wilma Ash retired as librarian in 2003, Susie Brendle,
the first recipient of the Wilma Ash Scholarship, was appointed as librarian.
1390 Ledford Road Blairsville, GA 30512 April 2, 2002
Dear Friends,
Words
cannot express my gratitude for your generosity. Your support has been greatly appreciated over the last 22 months. The decision
to go back to school was a difficult one to make. I struggled and prayed over it for several months. When I finally made my
decision, I still had doubts about my abilities. Those doubts soon faded when I faced the support and encouragement of those
around me. Patrons, fellow staff members, family and FOL gave me the encouragement I needed.
The last 22 months have
been very difficult for me. Ive learned to live on about 3 hours of sleep and continually walk around my house with my laptop
under my arm. My sense of accomplishment and the generosity of FOL far outweigh all the difficulties Ive faced during these
months.
Because of the support of my library, I will be graduating on May 10 2002. Each person that offered me support
and encouragement will be there with me when I receive my diploma. Please accept my great appreciation for all the wonderful
things that the Friends of Union County Library do for their library AND its staff. Your support means the world to us.
Sincerely,
Susie
Brendle
